DESCRIPTION:HCC Meeting Minutes \nJune 27th\, 2023\n  \n  \nWelcome and Introductions\n  \nSteering Committee (Present) – \n\nLinda Pitt Donaldson IHHS\nDebbie Bullis – Sentara\nMo Bowler – HRCSB\nJonny Morris – HRCSB/ HCC\nSusannah Lepley – CWS\n\nIntroductions to Each Other and Welcoming – Joyce \nRelationship Building Activity – Mo \nOverview of Recent HCC Accomplishments – Joyce \n\nThrough the support of HRCSB and grant-funding\, HCC has undergone a strategic planning process via OMNI.\nHCC hired their first paid staff member: Jonny\n\nJonny’s introduction as the HCC’s “Community Engagement Specialist” and first-ever paid staff member – Jonny \nHCC Website Introduction and Overview – Mo \n\nGoals\nData\nOrganizations involved in HCC\nOpportunities to join or engage in the HCC\nThanks to Estland who helped build the website\n\nStrategic Planning Review – Linda \n\n*Powerpoint will be sent out to individuals present today via Jonny*\nThe reasoning behind the name change from “Healthy Community Council” to “Healthy Community Collaborative”; “power with” – doing things with the community instead of doing things for the community.\nEmphasis on building relationships\nEquity at the forefront\nMeet the hungers of the community\nHCC Values:\n\nPeople\, Change\, Impact\, Learn\n\n\nHCC’s new structure:\n\nCommunity centered\, participatory design and decisions\, nimble and responsive to community needs and opportunities\, reflective and adaptive\n\n\nHCC’s Strategies:\n\nAdvocate with (not for..)\, Achieve Community-led projects\, build connection\, mobilize assets\n\n\nStatement of HCC’s goals and accomplishments\, 2022-2024\nThe desire for more members on the Steering Committee\n\nInviting nominations for new steering committee members by individuals present \nSmall Group Discussions – Jonny \n“How can we begin building more relationships in the community?” \n\n“Meeting people where they are at”\nFocusing on more specific areas/communities\nProviding specific care and services to neighborhoods\nBeing present in volunteer spaces\nCommunity meals\nIncreasing visibility on social media\nBe very specific with asks to the community\nReach out to faith-based communities for more involvement\nBe present at other communities events that are already happening\nMore committees in the HCC to meet in smaller action groups\n\n“Based what your groups talked about\, what do you think could be our/HCC’s first steps?” \n\nHaving a consistent presence within different\, local communities\nFinding the community health workers as points of access\nEngaging with initiatives\, events\, projects\, etc. that are already happening in the community\nFind our specific ask; “What are we asking people to join us in doing?”\nConnect with the faith communities\nGenerating a list of community events that HCC can attend/assist with\nSetting up action teams/subcommittees\nCreating facebook events and pages\nHaving HCC meetings in the afternoon not 8am in the morning\nMore emphasis on “working with”\n\nClosing:  \n\nNext Meeting: TBD; late September\nPoll for preference of morning meetings or midday/lunch-hours meetings: lunch hours preferred\nSteering committee meets on first Thursday of every month\nFollow up on nominations\n\nMeeting adjourned 9:37am
